September 20, 2020 Sermon Discussion Questions

Get to know me:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to generate responses that are self-revealing and informative. Feel free to ask all of these questions to your group or simply choose the one that best fits your group.

  1. Have you ever started a yard or garage project only to have it totally go off the rails?

  2. We have watched our lives be partially derailed in 2020. Part of that has been due to our Political Leaders & the Media's oversharing self serving opinions and ideas. What are you doing to moderate your own speech as we work to be faithful in this season?

Into the Bible:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to draw group members into the Bible to discover truth from passages that were not the primary text for the weekend message.

Read  Philippians 1:27

  1. In light of today’s message, what does this scripture mean to you?

  2. What does it take to, “conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ” ?

  3. Every church body is made up of imperfect people, how does that sometimes affect how people in our community view Christians? What can we do about it?

Application:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to apply the main points from the weekend message.

  1. Many Churches teach many different things. How can we be sure that the Doctrines we hold to are the correct views of Scripture?

  2. Many Christians don’t dig into things they struggle to understand, in an effort to avoid conflict or in fear of becoming even more confused.  Where do you get answers/help when you run into something that is deeper than your current understanding? Who is on the list of folks you trust?

  3. As the Holy Spirit leads & grows us, we become more sure in our Faith. One result should be that we begin to openly share what we believe.  What should a Christian  do when we bump into another person’s Doctrine & find that it has been corrupted?
