Room in the Inn provides shelter, meals, clothing, toiletries and haircuts to homeless men during the winter months (November–March). Small groups or individuals can serve by signing up to provide dinner, breakfast or lunch on Fridays from November through March. You can also donate mens clothing and toiletries to the ministry. Drop off in the LifePoint Church office Monday-Thursday from 8am-4pm.

ESL Childcare

Community Servants offers both Beginner and Intermediate/Advanced ESL classes. Classes meet Tuesday & Thursday mornings from 9-11am and at night from 6-8pm. Volunteers are needed to assist the teachers with discussions at all classes as well as help with childcare for children of English class students during the morning sessions.

 

Clothing Closet
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday 9am-12pm | Smyrna, TN

Community Servants at Wherry Housing has a clothing closet that services people in North Rutherford county. People can get clothing from the closet once a month. Volunteers are needed to sort, fold, and hang clothes as well as serve the clients. 

Volunteers are also needed during October to help change out the seasons.

Carpe Artista owns Carpe Cafe, a local artisan cafe specializing in handcrafted entrees, coffees, teas and sweets to offer our community. Each purchase supports Art Education and the mentoring of Creatives. Volunteers are needed to serve in the kitchen, as baristas and front of the house.

On-going opportunity for high school aged and up - 4 hour work shifts, Monday through Saturday with flexible hours. 

 

Sew Much More

Sew Much More spreads the Gospel through handmade clothing. Living out Matthew 25:40, “whatever you do to the least of my people, you do unto me”. Sew Much More meets twice a year. Once in the winter (January) and sews 250 reversible dresses for girls and once in the fall (September) and sews shorts for boys all delivered to third world countries via LifePoint sending trips.

First Friends

The First Friends ministry matches individuals and families to MTSU international students during their time in the States. By volunteering as a First Friends partner, you can share the love of Christ by sharing your life through a meal or activity at least once a month. Simply by inviting a student into your life activities you will give them an opportunity to see true Christianity lived out, and grow opportunities for gospel conversations. Many lifelong relationships have been made through this ministry.

English Conversation Partners Dinner
Every Tuesday August - May | 6:30pm | MTSU

Volunteer are needed to come share a meal with students while allowing them to work on their conversational English. You will have the opportunity to build relationships that can grow opportunities for gospel conversations.

You can also provide a meal for 40-60+ students plus volunteers. This is a great opportunity for small groups to participate in. Some will bring the food and stay for the evening but those that cannot stay the entire time can drop off the meals. Meals are the core of the Tuesday night ministry, without churches and small groups participating to provide the meals, this ministry could not continue.

 

Chalet Apartment Ministry

Chalet Apartment Ministry reaches out to the children and families living in the Chalet Apartment complex in Smyrna, TN. There are many ways you can be a part of the ministry. You can volunteer to help with an existing activity or plan an event such as sports day, girls night, game night, craft making, etc. on a weekend or evening during the week. Volunteers are also needed to help with the homework club that meets after school from 2:45-5:00pm during the school year.

Journey After School Program
Mondays & Wednesdays | LifePoint Smyrna Campus

Volunteers are needed to assist with the after school program on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30–5:45pm for refugee youth. Help students prepare to graduate high school and to find a place to feel supported and belong through helping through homework help, cultural activities, English conversation or simply laughter. You can also lead a breakout session, help with transportation, become a mentor, or be a tutor.

Addiction Ministry Volunteers
Any Date and Time | Middle Tennessee

S2L is currently in need of volunteers to work alongside the ministry. Participation will vary from person to person because everyone is gifted with different abilities. Below are the ways you can get involved. 

  • Become a mentor to those recovering from addictions.

  • Teach a Bible study or share your testimony on a Monday or Tuesday night.

  • Small groups can plan a fun hang out night for the men. Plan a day of paint-ball, pontoons on the lake, horseback riding, hiking, bowling, movie night, BBQ hang out, or anything! 

  • Help with maintenance and repairs at the S2L facility in Woodbury, TN. The Lodge is always in need of repairs. 

 

International Community Church

International Community Church exists to reach the immigrant and refugee population in middle TN for Christ through biblical hospitality, evangelism, disciple-making, and church planting. ICC meets at Wherry Housing in Smyrna, TN.
