Sermon Discussion Questions – Week of Feb 23, 2020

Get to know me:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to generate responses that are self-revealing and informative. Feel free to ask all of these questions to your group or simply choose the one that best fits your group.

  1. When was the last time you had the Flu? Would you rather feel sick for a whole week or throw up for 1 hour?

  2. We all get sick from time to time, how important is it to examine the source of that illness, and why?

  3. What does being spiritually lukewarm look like?

Into the Bible:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to draw group members into the Bible to discover truth from passages that were not the primary text for the weekend message.

Read Romans 8: 9-17

  1. What is your #1 take away from this passage?

  2. What are some ways you are Spiritually Close to & Far from God?

  3. It’s amazing to realize that as we Surrender to God, and die to our own desires, the Spirit comes to dwell within us! How might that “Closeness” personally impact the way we live?

Application:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to apply the main points from the weekend message.

  1. What is one area in your life where you plan to give more control over to the Lord?  What will that look like?

  2. As a Sending Church, our focus is to share the Gospel here in Smyrna, TN and to all the ends of the Earth. How can you use the story of your journey from distant (Spiritually Lost)  to close (Redeemed in Christ) to help people start a personal relationship with God?

  3. Revelations 3 shows us that Jesus wants to share an intimate meal with us. In what way can you apply that to your own relationship with your One?
