ESL Classes at LifePoint Church

At LifePoint Church, we love that the Nations are present in Middle TN!  That’s why we offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes to all who are interested. Our teachers help students develop their English language communication and comprehension while using a textbook and the richness of the message of the Gospel.

If you or someone you know wants to join our ESL Classes, please click on the link below to be added to our waiting list to start the process.

But please understand that there may be times that you may not be able to register for classes or be placed on our waitlist with the reason being that either the upcoming semester is full or the enrollment period has ended. In that case, you would need to wait until the next semester's open enrollment opens.

Process of Registration and Contacting of prospective Students:

Once you have submitted an application for classes, we will contact you prior to the beginning of the semester to walk you through the process. Here at LifePoint Church, our doors are open to people from every nation just as God tells us to do in Deuteronomy 10:18-19 where the Word of God says:

He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing. And you are to love those who are foreigners, for you yourselves were foreigners in Egypt.”

Our registration process requires you to share with us some basic personal information about you so that we can better serve you and your family. The process also includes your agreement to take a small English test (screening) to determine your placement level in the course. Note that you must undergo the screening process in order to be placed in the appropriate class.

Children and Teenagers:

Here at LifePoint, we care so much about you and your family that while you are in class learning, your children are well taken care of by some of the members of our church so that you are not distracted from learning. Your children would have fun singing with other children, learning social skills, learning about the Bible and doing other fun activities like playing games.

ESL Attendance:

Please understand that when you apply, get accepted and placed in a class, you are making a 12 weeks commitment to develop your English skills. We encourage you to follow through and make the most of this time for your benefit. While we understand the challenges some of you may be facing in scoring perfect attendance throughout the semester, we require every student to at least attend 10 of the 12 scheduled class sessions in order to pass your course of study of the semester. Please talk to either your teacher or the ESL Coordinator if you are having difficulty with class attendance so that we can see how we may be able to help.

ESL Certificate:

All students that successfully complete their course level and comply with the attendance requirements will be issued a Certificate of Completion for the course level.  Certificates will be given out on the day of graduation. If a student is unable to attend graduation due to unforeseen circumstances, he or she can arrange to pick it up at the church’s office. The total course has 5 Levels, to be completed in a two calendar year period.

Graduation Celebration:

On the final test day, each student will be given a letter of intent for you to let us know if you plan on returning on the next semester or not so that we can plan accordingly. Also, in that package, there will be a graduation form to be completed by every student before you leave. We encourage, not require all our students to bring food from their home countries to share and celebrate with other students and the ESL staff. So we will ask you about the kind and quantity of food you plan to bring. Each graduating student is allowed to invite not more than 2 family members to attend their graduation.

Multicultural Statement:

We accept and respect all cultures in our classes. Please be ready to share a space with people who may dress, behave and speak differently than you.
