Part 1
Our Bodies and Souls

Key Points from Part 1

Our bodies are part of who we are. They are us.

  • You are an embodied soul - both soul and body.

  • Being made in the image of God touches every part of who we are as humans - both our souls and our bodies.

Once Christ appears again, He will transform our lowly, fallen bodies to be like His glorious bodies.

  • The resurrection of Christ does not only ensure our spiritual resurrection - it ensures our physical resurrection as well.

Review Questions

  • The Bible doesn’t make a meaningful distinction between soul and body that would lead us to the conclusion that our bodies are insignificant compared to our souls. Being made in the image of God touches every part of who we are as humans - both our souls and our bodies.

  • Jesus is not a spirit. He has a body. He will always have a body. And one day, He will resurrect us and transform us to have a body like His.

Part 2
We Believe in Life Everlasting

Key Points from Part 2

We believe in the life everlasting.

  • Every person will experience an “everlasting life” of sorts after either death or Christ's second coming.

Eternal suffering in Hell awaits all who reject Jesus Christ.

  • Hell is described as a place of fire and darkness, of weeping and gnashing of teeth, destruction, and torment.

  • Hell is meant to appall us. It is meant to motivate our evangelism. And it is meant to make the goodness and wonders of Heaven even sweeter by comparison.

Review Questions

  • They will spend eternity in Hell, a place of fire and darkness, of weeping and gnashing of teeth, destruction, and torment.

  • No. The only chance someone has to receive salvation is in their life on earth.

Key Points from Part 3:

The Blessings of Eternal Life

  • We will be with God face to face

  • There will no longer be any effects of the Fall.

  • We will grow in our relationship with Christ without any hindrances.

Review Questions

  • No. Your desires will be so sanctified in your new body that you will not even have the capacity to want to sin anymore.

  • He will minister to us face-to-face as we enjoy perfect fellowship with Him.

Questions for Further Discussion

  2. Read Genesis 9:6. What does this verse reveal about the value God puts on human life?

  3. How does the belief of a future resurrection change the way we view our own death? How is this different than the world's belief about death?

  4. How would you describe Heaven to someone with no knowledge of the Bible?

  5. How would you describe Hell to someone with no knowledge of the Bible?
