Counseling

At LifePoint Church, we see counseling as a regular part of what it means to be a disciple of Christ. One of the many ways we are committed to helping people live sent is by offering quality Biblical counseling so as to help you grow in your faith. If interested, we have trained counselors that offer Christian counseling for a nominal fee.

If this is an emergency, please dial 911 or Family & Children’s Services at 615.244.7444 or National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 800.273.8255.

Adoptive Family Support Groups (Adoptive Parents & Adoptive Teens)

The Fall 2023 session starts on August 27, 2023. It is a 10-week group that will meet on Sundays at 5:00pm.

At LifePoint Church, we have a heart for LIFE and adoption. Adoption is hard and first starts with a great deal of loss and trauma for the adoptee before the beauty of God’s redemptive plan of adoption can shine. We want families to thrive after adoption so we are providing group counseling in hopes of healing for both adoptive parents and adopted teens from a Biblical perspective.

Adoptive Parents of kids of all ages will come together to read, learn, and discuss victories, successes, and struggles they are facing in a group setting. Parents of younger kids will learn from parents of older kids of what to expect as their adoptee grows older. The parents will study, The Seven Core Issues in Adoption and Permanency Workbook for Parents of Traumatized Children and Teens by Allison Davis and Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew: A Daily Devotional by Sherrie Eldridge. The group will be led by an adoption counselor who has worked professionally in adoption for over 17 years with birth families, adoptive families, and adoptees and is an adoptive parent herself.

Adoptees start asking questions of who they are and where they came from as they age into adolescence. The Teen Adoptee group is meant to help start those deep conversations with the teens to be empowered to have them with their adoptive parents. They will be encouraged through group activities and conversations. The group will be led by an adoption counselor and an international adoptee who has worked in adoption for 5 years and adopted two children, and the teens will hear from other adult adoptees and their perspective of adoption as they grow into adulthood. They will also be reading The Seven Core Issues in Adoption and Permanency Workbook for Children and Teens by Allison Davis Maxon.

Groups meet meet on Sundays from 5:00–6:30pm at the Smyrna Campus.
