Think of a time when you went for a period of time praying regularly. What did you notice about your attitude and demeanor? What did you notice about how you handled situations?
Think of a time when you went for a period of time without praying regularly. What did you notice about your attitude and demeanor? What did you notice about how you handled situations?
Adentrémonos en la Biblia
El objetivo de estas preguntas es animar a los miembros del grupo a profundizar en la Biblia para descubrir la verdad a partir de pasajes que no formaban parte del texto principal del mensaje del fin de semana.
Read Matthew 6:5-15. The Lord's Prayer is possibly the most known prayer in Christendom. But did you know Jesus prayed this as a model prayer, a way of teaching prayer to His disciples? What elements do you see in the prayer that Jesus wanted us to know? Which element do you think you include in your prayers most? The least?
Read Matthew 14:23; Mark 1:35; Luke 5:15-16. Jesus was known to spend much time in prayer. Most of His recorded prayer time was spent in private. From these three passages, what do you notice about the situations when Jesus is praying? How do these compare to your common times of prayer?
Solicitud
El objetivo de estas preguntas es poner en práctica los puntos principales del mensaje del fin de semana.
Read Daniel 9:1-3. Daniel's mind was filled with the Word, so his life was filled with prayer. Bold prayer starts with the Word. The Word sets our minds on heaven and fills our hearts with Christ. In what ways have you used Scripture to guide your prayers? What passages of Scripture that you know well could you use to help your prayer life?
Read Daniel 9:4-5. As Daniel looked at his own life and the faithlessness of Israel, he humbled himself under the glory of God and confessed. If we want to learn how to pray boldly, it must include a regular diet of confession. How often do your prayers include confession? Are there sins the Holy Spirit has worked out of your life because of confession and repentance?
Read Daniel 9:17-19. When we read Daniel’s prayer we see the “anatomy of a heart” that beats for the glory of God. The basis for Daniel’s prayer, fasting, & confession — was not so that his conscience would be appeased or he could sleep through the night without guilt — it was about God’s glory. How might your prayer life change if you stopped making it about you? What if you started praying like Daniel, putting Jesus at the center?
