Sermon Discussion Questions
Get to know me:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to generate responses that are self-revealing and informative. Feel free to ask all of these questions to your group or simply choose the one that best fits your group.
Whether we intend it or not, we all end up in a fight from time to time. What “life fight” are you most proud of?
What is your biggest fight right now?
Into the Bible:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to draw group members into the Bible to discover truth from passages that were not the primary text for the weekend message.
Read: Isaiah 41:10
These are powerful words….what do they mean?
Will God guarantee these words for just any fight as long as we are true Christians, or is there something more involved here?
Application:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to apply the main points from the weekend message.
Why does it take HUMILITY to live for God’s battles & not our own?
Sometimes…the fight is bigger than we are….what gives you COURAGE to step into a fight like that?
Sometimes the fight is one we are completely unwilling to engage in. Wounds in parental relationships, friendships, or marriages, can feel insurmountable. What do we need to do, when we come up against fights like this?
How do we identify a fight worth living or even dying for?
Prayer: God, please give me the courage to live sacrificially this week. Please send me into your Battle, exactly where you want me to be, at exactly your perfect timing. Help me Lord, to see what I would miss! Let me discern exactly why you have me, in the place & time you have me. Then God, please give me the courage to step into the fight. I want you to have my “Yes” now Father! I know I won’t be able to do anything you send me to do perfectly, so forgive me where I fall short, & make me more than I can be on my own! God, please pour into me the blessing of a life spent in the only worthwhile pursuit…The pursuit of a genuine relationship with you built on FAITH & TRUST!
I love you, God. I trust you! Here I am. Send me!
