Sermon Discussion Questions – Week of February 21, 2021
Get to know me:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to generate responses that are self-revealing and informative. Feel free to ask all of these questions to your group or simply choose the one that best fits your group.
We tend to be a product of both...who we were made to be, & what has happened to us in life...Who/what, has been most formative in creating the lens you see the world through?
How does that lens tend to affect your life path? Your motivations? Your Behaviors?
Into the Bible:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to draw group members into the Bible to discover truth from passages that were not the primary text for the weekend message.
Read Matthew 7: 15-23
What is Jesus saying to us here?
How is it possible for a person to do all of these amazing things, & still not be one of Christ’s true people?
Application:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to apply the main points from the weekend message.
In Revelation this week we read about God’s judgement…Who is God's Judgement for?
What is the one & only provision that allows a person to walk through that judgement with a positive result?
***Exercise***
INSTRUCTIONS: (Group Leaders, this could be a sensitive exercise & may require your assistance in directing people to resources or additional help depending on what comes up. Please allow for a time of reflection & prayer. The goal is for your Group to honestly answer where they fit into the following statement & form a plan of action. Be ready to talk with anyone who may have a need.)
Between Revelation & Matthew, we see a judgement for 3 different groups of people...
Rebels who refuse to follow God.
People who publicly claim Works of God for their own glory, but are not recognized as His true people.
Those who unconditionally surrender to Christ, becoming His True Disciples. Be brutally honest with yourself & determine what category you have been operating in? What would your Social Media Accounts, Workhabits, Entertainment choices, Sexual Behaviors, Family life, reveal about where & how you invest your life?
In light of your self-assessment, what is your next step? How will you begin to take that step, & who can be a part of the journey as you seek growth? Please let your group leader know if there are any resources needed.
If anyone is willing to be open, please allow a few minutes at the end, prior to your closing group prayer, to have a sharing time. What can we learn or be inspired by?
