October 25, 2020 Sermon Discussion Questions

Get to know me:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to generate responses that are self-revealing and informative. Feel free to ask all of these questions to your group or simply choose the one that best fits your group.

  1. It seems like everyone from the Police to the Phone Company wants to Verify who we are before they will get down to business….why?

  2. Why is it so important that we verify our Spiritual Identity?

Into the Bible

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to draw group members into the Bible to discover truth from passages that were not the primary text for the weekend message.

Read Romans 6: 1-14

  1. Christians talk about “surrendering” to God. What is Paul saying that it will look like?

  2. What should be the net result of being Born Again or Saved by Jesus?

  3. How will a person who has become an authentic Christian view and handle their own sinful nature?

Application:

Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to apply the main points from the weekend message.

  1. What is the difference between working hard to change your life, & being born again?

  2. What is the difference between trying to believe & the gift of Faith that comes from God once we are Alive in Him?

  3. Why could God’s commandments for us seem like a burden?

  4. Why do some Christians call God Daddy or Papa when they pray? How does seeing Him in that light affect how we treat other fellow believers?

  5. The Classic Hymn “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” written in 1922 by Helen H. Lemmel says that if we look to Jesus “the things of this world will grow strangely dim in the Light of His Glory & Grace.” She based this song on Isaiah 45:22. What was she singing about? How does it apply to a VERIFIED Christian?
