Week of January 27, 2019 Sermon Discussion Questions
Get to know me:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to generate responses that are self-revealing and informative. Feel free to ask all of these questions to your group or simply choose the one that best fits your group.
We all have giftings and shortcomings. Share a few of both.
What does having a helper mean to you?
How do you show respect to others?
What causes you to feel respected?
Into the Bible:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to draw group members into the Bible to discover truth from passages that were not the primary text for the weekend message.
Read Genesis 2:18
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
Why is it important for us not to be alone?
Why is it important for us to have a helper “fit” for us?
Read 1 Corinthians 11:3
But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.
Discuss the meaning of this verse while affirming a commitment to sit ‘under God’s word’ not ‘over God’s word’.
Application:
Instructions: The purpose of these questions is to apply the main points from the weekend message.
How can you show your spouse the respect the bible calls for and edify them this week ?
What is one specific way you can participate in an activity that brings your spouse joy this week?
Identify a strength your spouse brings to your relationship and compliment them for being the help that you need.
