Starting Point

What is Starting Point?

Starting Point is an exploration of God’s grand story and where you fit into the narrative.

Starting Point is an accepting, conversational environment where people learn about God’s story and their places in it. Starting Point helps participants explore the Bible and begin to understand key truths of the Christian faith. Carefully refined to enhance community, the ten interactive sessions in Starting Point encourage honest exploration. The Conversation Guide, which includes a five-disk audio series featuring Andy Stanley, helps each participant enjoy and engage fully with the small group experience. Starting Point is a non-threatening small group where your opinions and beliefs will be valued.

Who is it for?

This proven, small group experience is carefully designed to meet the needs of:

  • People who are reconnecting with God after being away from church for a while
  • People who are not sure about God or the Bible and want a safe place to discuss spiritual issues
  • People who have recently started a relationship with God.

What is the size of a typical group?

Starting Point groups are typically ten to twelve participants and two leaders (for a maximum of fourteen people).

When and where do groups meet?

The entire Starting Point experience is ten weeks. Each group meeting lasts 60-65 minutes. Groups meet on Sundays during worship service times on the Smyrna and Stewarts Creek campuses. This allows us to provide childcare for Starting Point group members who need it. Also, it can be less intimidating for seekers who already come to a Sunday morning service, but may be anxious about going to a stranger’s house at a different time.

Contact Brian Killen for more info regarding Starting Point at the Smyrna Campus. At the Stewarts Creek Campus contact Brad Bynum.

What do the materials include?

  • Conversation Guide: 128-page full-color guide divided into ten chapters.
  • Media Kit: ten audio messages on five CDs and one short film on DVD.
  • An ESV (English Standard Version) Bible

What does the class cost?

The cost of Starting Point is $10. This covers a portion of the cost of the materials.  LifePoint Church shares the cost with you to encourage you to fully participate. The more you put into Starting Point, the more you will get out of Starting Point.

When does the next class begin?

Starting Point Orientation will be scheduled in the near future. It meets on the Smyrna campus in Room S103 at 10:30am.
