Carpe Artista is a non-profit organization focused on creating positive culture globally by developing local arts communities and training artists in multiple genres. Carpe Cafe ministers to the local arts culture through programming, workshops, music and special events. The cafe relies on volunteers to work in the coffee house during open hours, serving the customers and building relationships with the arts community. Volunteers are also needed for special events, festivals and concerts.

Carpe Artista owns Carpe Cafe. It is necessary for their cashflow and also for their nonprofit status to have volunteers in the kitchen to help with dishes, prep work, cooking and baking. They are also needing volunteers to serve as a cashier and barista.
On-going opportunity for high school aged and up - 4 hour work shifts, Monday through Saturday with flexible hours.
Carpe Artista owns a building on Front Street in Smyrna that will become their training center for the arts. Currently they are using it for lessons and event rentals. They are needing assistance with painting, cleaning, and building shelving, and outdoor clean up to help prepare the building to train children and adults in the arts.

The Simply Smyrna Celebration kicks off the Summer in Smyrna. The event will be held throughout the Historic Depot District of Smyrna, TN with music stages in the Depot, outside the Depot, in the Assembly Hall, on the Carpe Café terrace and at the end of Front Street. Something for everyone – Rock n Roll, Country, Jazz, Hip Hop, Christian, Americana and R&B.

Sew Much More meets twice a year. Once in the fall (September) and sews 250 reversible dresses for girls and once in the spring (April) and sews shorts for boys all delivered to third world countries via LifePoint mission trips. Small groups can serve together or individuals can invite a friend. You can help sew, cut, iron, flip and tag the dresses (Non-sewers are welcome too!). The minimum age to serve with this is 6th grade due to liability of scissors and hot irons. Donations for fabric are welcomed year round.

Shepherd’s Clothing Closet supplies children in foster care system in Rutherford County with new or gently used age appropriate clothing, new personal hygiene items, and school supplies at no cost. Volunteers are needed to help sort, organize, and hang up clothes; stuff care bags and backpack supplies; as well as donate clothing and supplies. Volunteers are also needed for monthly meetings to babysit foster kids.
The Journey Home provides daily meals and personal necessities to the homeless of Rutherford County. Their ministry center is located in the heart of Murfreesboro. Join an existing team or go as a small group to prepare and serve meals to the homeless.

Shepherd’s Rest Ministry matches individuals and families to MTSU international students during their study time here in the States. These people often become these students’ best friends as they live out their Christian love for them. You can volunteer to be a First Friend partner by meeting with the student at least once a month. You can also help with the Tuesday night dinner where they provide a meal for 40-50 international students. Volunteers are needed to foster relationships with international students as we sponsor luncheons, coffees, socials, camping, and weekend trips. Small groups are encouraged to get involved by serving on a Tuesday night by providing a meal and relationships with the international students.

Chalet Apartment Ministry reaches out to the children and families living in the Chalet Apartment complex in Smyrna. There are many ways you can be a part of the ministry: you can volunteer to help with an existing activity or plan an event such as sports day, girls night, game night, craft making, etc. on a weekend or evening during the week. Homework club meets after school from 2:45-5:00pm during the school year.
