This is the step where we begin to take on serving in ministry. It is a transformational process that comes from connecting to God’s greater purpose. God challenged and convicts us to realize that the game is much bigger than our personal comforts and preferences. Movement happens from self-focused to genuinely caring about the needs of others.

The difference here is that the Beginning and Growing steps are probably involved in ministry, but their hearts are not God-centered or others-focused. We start to notice God and others more. We are more sensitive to God’s purpose, priorities begin to change, we take on the approach that every opportunity is one to show the love of Christ to someone else.

Some key phrases of the Growing stage are:

  1. Look how many are in church today… it’s awesome! I had to walk two blocks from the closest parking spot.
  2. In my devotions I ran across something I have a question about.
  3. I love my group, but there are others who need a group like this.
  4. I noticed we don’t have any seniors on the visitation team, do you think I could be involved?

Follow your heart where God is leading you to something more grand than you can imagine. Begin to ponder these next steps:
