Don’t mistake Bible knowledge, years of church attendance, physical age, or education for spiritual maturity. Don’t let self-centeredness or idealism distract you at this step.   This is the stage where one takes off the bib and puts on the apron for Christ. In the Beginner stage, as with an infant, great care is taken to walk with and care for a person in this vulnerable stage. As a Growing member the responsibility falls on you to begin serving others faithfully.

Some key phrases of the Growing stage are:

  1. Don’t split my small group into two groups.
  2. It is comfortable for me right now.
  3. Who are all these new people coming to our church? The church is getting too big.
  4. I love my small group, don’t add any more people to it.
  5. My small group is not taking care of my needs like they should.
  6. I am not being fed by my church, so I am going to a church that meets my needs.

Become bold in Christ and begin forging new relationships to your church family. Begin to focus on a couple of Truths:

  • Who you are in Christ. Book: Disciples’ Path, The Call
  • How to feed yourself spiritually. Books: Disciples Path The Way,
  • How to have a relationship with Christ. Book: Disciples Path, The Life
  • How to have a relationship with other believers. Get connected to a small group or Serve Team.
  • Learn the appropriate expectations concerning other believers. Suggestion: A covenant or List of agreements.
